Murad Resurgence Wrinkle Cream Review

As a woman, I look for anti-aging products that are designed especially for women and the Murad Resurgence anti-aging system is one example. Murad Resurgence targets hormonal aging, which, as explained by the company founder and acclaimed dermatologist Dr. Howard Murad, is aging caused by the decreased production of the hormone, estrogen. Aside from its reproductive functions, estrogen also plays a part in collagen production, which is why most women notice their wrinkles and the diminished appearance of the skin after menopause when estrogen levels drop significantly.

Because of its unique approach, Murad Resurgence claims to provide younger-looking skin in just 30 days. In fact, it even guarantees this. Usually, I find claims like this suspicious and too good to be true, but if the success and popularity of the Murad Acne Complex system is any indication, then the Murad Resurgence system has the science to back its promises.

Like Dermagist (Dermajuv) and the Murad Acne Complex system, the Murad Resurgence system is a three-step treatment kit consisting of a Renewing Cleansing Cream (1.5 oz), an Age-Diffusing Serum (0.33 oz) and an Age-Balancing Night Cream (0.5 oz).

Murad Resurgence Key Ingredients

The Murad Resurgence Renewing Cleansing Cream is mostly made up of natural oils and extracts that exfoliate and nourish skin. These include:

Apricot Oil

Pressed from dried apricot kernels, apricot oil is rich in vitamin E, vitamin A and essential fatty acids so it effectively softens and revitalizes skin. It also prevents skin irritation and easily penetrates the surface of the skin without leaving any oily residue.

Evening Primrose Oil

Although more popularly used in preparing a woman’s body for labor, this natural oil is actually very good for the skin, preventing acne and eczema while promoting the intrinsic healing abilities of the skin cells.

Papaya Extract

This ingredient contains a powerful enzyme called papain which breaks down dead and damaged skin cells, making them easier to get rid of to make room for the young, healthy ones.

Rosewood Oil

Rosewood oil is known to stimulate cell regeneration and is also a good moisturizer.

The Murad Resurgence Age-Diffusing Serum is the core of the treatment, containing powerful peptides such as:

Acetyl Hexapeptide-3

More commonly known as Argireline, this ingredient works in the same way as Botox injections, namely by preventing muscle contractions. Argireline blocks the release of the neurotransmitter that causes muscles to tense and contract and in so doing, smoothens out the surface of the skin.

Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4

Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 is also popular in the anti-aging world. Also known as Matrixyl, it boosts the synthesis of collagen so that the skin remains firm and resilient.

The Murad Resurgence Age-Diffusing Serum also contains glycosaminoglycans which are chemicals that help restore the balance of enzymes in the skin to maintain the integrity of the skin structure and prevent the onset of wrinkles.

Finally, the Murad Resurgence Age-Balancing Night Cream contains powerful moisturizers and ingredients that effectively treat dry skin such as shea butter, wild yam extract, avocado oil and glycerin. It also contains retinol, the purest and most active form of Vitamin A found in many night creams, which exfoliates skin, helps unclog pores, reverses sun damage, aids in collagen production and protects the skin from free radicals.

Product Usage

Although Murad Resurgence is actually made up of three products instead of just one, it is quite easy to use. Of course, you should use the Cleansing Cream first and once all the oil, dirt and make-up have been removed, you can apply the Age-Diffusing Serum on the problematic areas of your face, massaging a pea-sized amount gently with your fingertips. Once the serum has dried, which takes about 10-15 seconds, you can apply the Age-Balancing Night Cream in the same small amount.

This may sound a bit time-consuming at first but even if you use just one anti-aging product, you will still have to use a facial cleanser first and chances are you might still need a moisturizer to apply after, so why not just get three that are compatible with each other?

To test the effectiveness of the Murad Resurgence treatment, Murad did a study involving women aged 30 to 56, asking them to use the whole skincare regimen for four weeks. At the end of the study, 97% of the women noticed an improvement in the hydration of their skin, 93% noticed that they had firmer skin and 90% saw a visible reduction in wrinkles.

Murad Resurgence Product Guarantee

If after 4 weeks, though, you don’t experience any of these positive changes, you have 4 more weeks to use the regimen and if, you still are not satisfied, you can return the products even if they are empty and get a full refund – this is the Murad 60-day guarantee.

As a fan of all-in-one systems, I find the Murad Resurgence trio of anti-aging products quite promising. It contains many natural ingredients that have been used for over centuries, as well as potent peptides – although it would have been better if there was even more of the latter. While its user feedback is remarkable, it would also have been better if the results had been displayed in numbers so potential users would know what to expect. Then again, having results, even if they are not very dramatic, is better than seeing none.
