Questions about Bumps on Scalp Itch Answered

Chris asks…tiny water bumps on scalp. Itches and burns?

I have these little bumps that itch, sting and burn badly.  They turn into raw spots.  I don’t know how to get rid of them.  I don’t think it is dandruff.  My husband travels a lot and I use the shampoo and conditioner he brings home when I run out of my own or want something different.  Could it be an allergy to them?

Admin answers:  Nope you got psoriasis.

Sandy asks…my scalp keeps breaking out in rash and bumps?

I have never had a dry scalp or dandruff in my life. I noticed my scalp itching and was really dry, so I bought some dry scalp shampoo and I broke out in a rash all over my head.  I went back to my regular shampoo and it’s not dry anymore but i keep itching. Have bumps and rashes still off and on. What can this be?

Admin answers:  You may have hives, I get them a lot. I suggest you see a dermatologist. It’s hard to get a referral but if you bug your doctor enough they will eventually give one to you.

Carol asks…what r the little red bumps on the scalps that itches and hurt, get it when i get a haircut from the barber shop?

Admin answers:  It’s probably a dry scalp. Try using a dandruff shampoo to moisturize your scalp.

Lizzie asks…Why does my scalp itch so badly after having extensions put in?

I recently had extensions put in and ever since my head has been itching horribly. There are little red bumps on my scalp and they are what itch. I’ve tried putting hydrocortisone cream on it, but it only helps briefly.

Admin answers:  There are three reasons for your scalp irritation.  One being that your braids as probably mentioned, are too tight.  Secondly, you may have dry scalp, which causes irritable itch,( I have), thirdly, depending on the method used to put the extensions in, like (glue or thread), your scalp may be sensitive or bothered by the two.

Since you mentioned that you have bumps on the scalp, i would go with dryness of, or sensitivity to the products or type of hair being used.  If the bumps are around the nape of the neck, and the lining of the head, i think you have had your braids in “too tight”, which can cause the irritable feeling, and itch you described.

Ruth asks…i have itchy bumps on my scalp, there are small red lines?

they look like they could possibly be small veins, I have had it for about 2 months and has moved from one side of the back of my head to the other.  one doctor said to use Head and Shoulders, i used it for 10 days and then went to a dermatologist and they said quit using head and shoulders, and use nioxin from a solon. I still have the bumps and itch, please help

Admin answers:  Check out Candida overgrowth.
